Online petition for Vessicchio: “Name Ariston after him”
Beppe Vessicchio he was never just a conductor. Especially on social media, where every year his name was a trending topics fixed during the days of the Sanremo Festival. “First of all, a friend has passed away, a person who was part of the Festival 26 times. This is the moment of bitterness, but above all of affection and memory”, Walter Vacchino, owner of the Ariston Theater, declared to “Adnkronos”. And precisely the strong bond that unites the name of Vessicchio to that of the historic Theater is at the center of an appeal that is circulating online.
In the aftermath of the funeral which took place in his neighbourhood, Montesacro, in Rome, a petition was launched on Change.org: name the Ariston after Beppe Vessicchio. Just scroll through the comments under the posts on the Theater’s official Facebook page to realize how much this sentiment is shared: “He was the soul of the orchestra for decades”, “It would be a beautiful testimony of esteem and affection for this discreet and kind man”.
Vacchino, on the other hand, invites us not to rush things: “Today I mourn a friend, the time for tributes will come. His memory is a caress to the soul. We will keep him in our hearts, with applause to accompany him on his new path”.
