Trent Reznor on “The Downward Spiral”: “It still excites me”

Nine Inch Nails to Score ‘Tron: Ares’

Nine Inch Nails will compose the soundtrack for “Tron: Ares,” the new installment in the “Tron” film saga due in theaters in October 2025. This was confirmed by Disney Pictures, the studio that owns the franchise launched in 1982, during D23, the corporate convention held in Los Angeles last night.

Trent Reznor (pictured) will therefore return to film music, but not as part of the award-winning duo with Atticus Ross, winner of two Oscars – in 2011 for “The Social Network” and in 2021 for “Soul”.

For the “Pretty Hate Machine” group, the work will mark their return to recording activity after the instrumental diptych “Ghosts V: Together” and “Ghosts VI: Locusts”, albums released simultaneously in March 2020, in the early, very difficult phases of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cast of “Tron: Ares” includes Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, who won an Oscar in 2014 for Best Supporting Actor for “Dallas Buyers Club,” Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, former “X Files” star Gillian Anderson, Sarah Desjardins and Jeff Bridges, who will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn. Filming took place mainly in Vancouver, Canada, between January and May.
