Nick Cave: amazed by the live reception of the new songs

Nick Cave enjoys playing the songs from his new album live”Wild God“. The 67-year-old Bad Seeds frontman is pleased and amazed by the response to the songs from the latest album that the group is performing during its current European tour.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Australian singer-songwriter said: “These songs in particular lend themselves to the live experience in a way that some of the other records we’ve made – or maybe the last three – haven’t. When they need to hit, they hit You can really see it in people’s faces.”

Cave continued: “The new material sounds fantastic. It’s like the songs haven’t made it onto the record yet, but they do when they hit the stage, and these songs are just epic, gloriously great in a way that only the Bad Seeds It’s incredibly exciting,” Cave continued. “It’s an amazing experience for us to get to this point so early in a tour. It usually takes a few shows to sort things out, but this is really encouraging.”

Nick Cave with Bad Seed is expected for a concert, long sold out, at the Unipol Forum in Milan on Sunday 20 October.

Nick also confessed that he rarely listens to music because it distracts him when he’s trying to work. He said: “I don’t listen to a lot of new music. I don’t go scouring record shops to try to find something. I’m not sure I listen to much music, actually. I should listen to more. I like it when I do, but I find it impossible to play and work at the same time. And I find very little time to sit down and really listen to the music as it should be listened to.”

When asked what music he listens to, he replied: “Anything that doesn’t have words: jazz, ambient or choral music. I can work if I have non-opera music.”
