Peter Gabriel announces new album "o/i"

New song for Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel he published “White lies ahead (Bright-Side Mix)”third single from his eleventh studio album “oi”which is scheduled for release in December 2026, after “Been undone” and Put the Bucket Down”. As for the previous one “I” (read the review here) released in 2023, also for this album Gabriel will release a new song every full moon, each song presents different interpretations in the form of a mix ‘Dark Side’ (edited by Tchad Blake) e ‘Bright-Side’ (edited by Mark “Spike” Stent).

“What Lies Ahead,” explained Gabriel, was performed in instrumental form without lyrics during the “Back to Front” tour ten years ago. The piece features the Scandinavian choir Orphei Drängar – whose presence was suggested by Brian Eno – is based on a melody composed by Gabriel’s son, Isaac with contributions from Jennie Abrahamson, cellist Linnea Olsson and orchestral elements curated by John Metcalfe:

“I’ve always loved spiritual and inspirational music because sometimes people come to a different place when they detach and just be present with the feeling that there’s something else out there. Even though I’m not religious, I still get that feeling, and that’s what I hoped we could achieve with the choir at the beginning: to immediately enter into another world.”
“What Lies Ahead is about inventors and invention. My father was an electrical engineer, an inventor, and I saw him deal with the frustrations of not only trying to realize an idea, which has to go through many iterations, but also selling it, both to those with the money and to the outside world. I have always been curious about the creative process and how this applies to inventors.”
