Mötley Crüe: “Dr. Feelgood” Anniversary Reissues
BMG will release celebratory reissues of Mötley Crüe’s critically acclaimed album, “Dr. Feelgood,” on November 22. 35 years after its release, “Dr. Feelgood” is one of the last great rock albums of the 80s and one of the greatest rock albums of that period.. Recorded in Vancouver with producer Bob Rock and released in 1989, this album brought Mötley Crüe number one on the Billboard Top 200 and achieved 6 platinum certifications in the United States. The album cemented the band’s global superstar status, reaching the Top 10 in Australia (Platinum), Canada (3x Platinum), Finland, Norway, New Zealand (Platinum), Sweden, Switzerland (Gold) and the UK (Gold).
With five huge hit singles that have kept radio and MTV busy, the Dr. Feelgood World Tour found Mötley Crüe on the road and in the air on their private jet for over 2 years. The first single “Dr. Feelgood”, with its memorable opening, catchy chorus and aggressive music video, started things off by reaching the top 10 of the US Hot 100 singles chart. After reaching the Top 30 upon its release, “Kickstart My Heart” has become Mötley Crüe’s most popular reference song From the chainsaw intro to the music video shot at Hollywood’s famous Whisky-a-Go-Gothe song has racked up over 1.5 billion streams and can be heard almost daily in movies, commercials, video games, and sporting events around the world! The Hot 100 hits didn’t stop there: “Without You” peaked at #8, “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)” peaked at #19, and the final single “Same Ol’ Situation (SOS)” peaked at #1. The Dr. Feelgood World Tour kicked off at the Moscow Music Peace Festival in Russia and by the time the tour concluded in late 1990, the band had played more than 100 concerts to over 2 million loyal fans.. The centerpiece of this 35th anniversary campaign will be a limited edition box set available in both LP and CD formats featuring the remastered version of the original album, plus rare demos and live tracksThe box set also contains a 24-page tourbook with previously unpublished live and behind-the-scenes photos, a replica of the itinerary of the Dr. Feelgood Tour, a poster, a patch, a backstage pass, a live show flyer, a press kit, a medical bag and a guitar pick. In addition to the box set, a deluxe streaming version will be available, as well as several configurations for vinyl fans: an exclusive color vinyl for the band’s official shop, an alternative exclusive color vinyl with 3D lenticular cover, a Picture Disc vinyl, and a standard black vinyl. Finally, the anniversary edition will also be available on CD with 3D lenticular artwork and on standard CD. All variants feature a new cover.
