The news comes a week after the announcement, dated December 19th, which had made many fans hope for the possibility of an imminent publication of “Bonfire Of Teenagers”the album completed years ago but never officially released. On Christmas day, however, the former Smiths leader surprised everyone by publishing a list of 12 titleswithout providing further details on the album title, release date or creative context.
A key element suggests that nIt’s not “Bonfire Of Teenagers”: in fact it does not appear in the tracklist ‘Rebels Without Applause’the single released in 2022 and associated with that project, nor any other known or rumored song belonging to that album. Everything therefore suggests that it is a completely different album. The statements made by Morrissey last year also strengthen this hypothesis Medium. The artist had explained that he had completed a second new albumalso blocked: “The second was re-registered in France at the end of 2023 and given a new title. We scrapped half the songs and recorded six new ones, so it’s not the early 2023 albumIf confirmed, the newly announced project could therefore represent a new recording chapterseparated by the long vicissitudes that accompanied it “Bonfire Of Teenagers”. It now remains to be seen if and when this new work will officially see the light.
