Mina: an album with songs from the Sixties is coming out
Arrives Friday November 7 “1963-1967 Mina”, a new recording project that collects the most beloved songs of the Sixties, carefully restored starting from the original sound sources. A double vinyl – also available on CD – which summarizes the energy, voice and modernity of one of the greatest interpreters of Italian music. Mina began publishing records at a very young age, first with the pseudonym Baby Gate, then with her first name. In the early years he moved between rock, twist and songs in Italian, English and Neapolitan, immediately demonstrating a rare versatility. At just twenty years old, with “Il cielo in una stanza” by Gino Paoliconquers first place in the rankings in Italy and in many foreign countries, becoming an international phenomenon.
From 1963 to 1967, Mina went through a phase of growth and artistically courageous choices: he established himself as an extraordinarily talented musician and performer, collaborating with the best authors of the time and defining a new way of singing in Italy during the economic boom. It is a period of experimentation, intellectual curiosity and musical refinement that consecrates her as an artist. The songs of those years – still among the most loved in the Italian repertoire today – now find a new life thanks to “1963-1967 Mina”which enhances sound quality through meticulous analog restoration. The project represents a precious and definitive catalog of the period RI-FI / Peer-Southern Productionsin which the singer built a fundamental part of her own path.
Alongside the double album also comes out “1963-1967 Mina – Rarities and alternative versions”a limited edition box set consisting of four CDs dedicated to collectors. Contains 102 songs, including six previously unreleased versions and rare renditions in Japanese, Turkish, English, Spanish, German and French. The differences in singing and arrangements offer a fascinating glimpse into mina’s creative process and the many nuances of her voice. Both projects are enriched by unpublished photographs and shots taken by Mauro Ballettiwho took care of its image with the usual elegance. “1963-1967 Mina” is the first chapter of a series of publications designed to rediscover and enhance the artist’s extraordinary discographyretracing the various phases of his career with restored sound quality.
