Melissa Auf Der Maur, hers is a memoir about rock in the 90s
Before embarking on a solo career Melissa Auf der Maur he played bass in both Hole (from 1994 to 1999) than in Smashing Pumpkins (from 1999 to 2000). On March 17th he will release his ’90s rock memoir’ entitled ‘Even The Good Girls Will Cry’.
Auf der Maur was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where she sold concert tickets and formed her first band, The Tinker. THE Tinker they opened for Smashing Pumpkins and the frontman of the Chicago group Billy Corgan introduced her to Courtney Lovewho recruited her for the Hole. Melissa joined the Hole during a tragic period: the group was called to replace the previous bassist Kristen Pfaffwho passed away a couple of months after the death of Kurt Cobainhusband of Courtney Love.
These events appear to be the focus of ‘Even The Good Girls Will Cry’which is presented with these words: “part rock autobiography, part travelogue and part psychedelic collage” which serves as a “vivid account of the last analog decade, artistically capturing that bygone era in all its messy and angsty glory”.
