Maurizio Biancani, the alchemist of sound

Maurizio Biancani, sound engineer and music producer, founder of Studio Fonoprint in Bologna, recorded the voices and music of Luca Carboni, Lucio Dalla, Laura Pausini, Pooh, Eros Ramazzotti, Vasco Rossi, Zucchero and many other artists using the mixer. The book he has just published for Fernandel, (“The alchemist of sound. Fifty years of music at the mixer”: we have taken a chapter from it here, that of his first meeting with Vasco Rossi), is a journey through Italian music from the Seventies to today, a memoir full of anecdotes lived alongside those who made the history of song but it is also a reflection on the profession of the sound engineer, on what it really means to work behind the scenes.

I conversed with Maurizio Biancani via Zoom: here are the videos.
