Lord Buffalo: the drummer arrested on the plane
Yamal SaidRock Band drummer Lord Buffalo of Austin, Texas, was taken forcefully by a plane and detained by the US Customs and Border Patrol last Monday while traveling for the European band’s European tour; For two days he has no contact with his bandmates, according to a post published on social media by the group. Said is Mexican citizen but permanent resident in the United States and owner of a green card, according to what reported in the post.
“We are struggling in announcing that we must erase our imminent European tour,” wrote the band. “Our drummer, Yamal Said, a Mexican citizen and permanent resident in the United States (owner of Green Card), was taken for the force from our flight to Europe by the customs police at Dallas/Fort Worth international airport on Monday 12 May. It was not released and we were unable to contact him. Currently we are working with a lawyer specialized in immigration for more information and try to get his release.
“We are upset by the cancellation of this tour, but we are concentrating all our energies and resources on the security and freedom of Yamal”, continues the post. “We are confident that it is a temporary arrest trip and that in the future we could reprogram this tour in complete safety. In our absence, our partners @Orsakoslo will continue the tour”. We all invite you to go and see this fantastic band and support it in the next two weeks “.
On Instagram the post was then removed and replaced with another text that reads:
“We appreciate the enormous support received by all of you today. We still know little about the situation, but the drummer’s family and his legal team have asked us to respect their privacy while the situation evolves. We intend to do it and we send them all our affection. We will share the updates of the family when it will be possible. Thanks again for the support of everyone. -LB”
According to the local newspaper Austin ChronicleSaid lived in Austin since the 80s, when his parents transferred his family to the Texan city following an earthquake in Mexico City.
