Liam Gallagher criticizes Damon Albarn for his Coachella rage

Liam Gallagher honored by PETA

Liam Gallagher won a PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) award after adopting a stray dog and raising thousands of pounds for the animal charity in Thailand.

Liam, as reported by the English magazine NME, adopted a dog named Buttons from a shelter in Thailand last year, after she was abandoned in the jungle by her owners because she was “not cute enough”. Gallagher found Buttons through the shelter Happy Doggo based in Thailand. Earlier this year the charity founder Niall Harbison spoke of his shock when he found Gallagher’s name among the applicants.

Shortly after adopting her, the frontman of
Oasis
revealed that Buttons had made him stop wanting to tour as he preferred to stay at home with her, then inspired him to raise £25,000 to help other dogs in Thailand. Harbison announced it via social media, on X, explaining that Gallagher’s commitment “shows that not everything is bad in the world”. The charity aims to save 1,000 dogs a month.

Now, in light of his charitable work and the awareness he has raised by adopting Buttons,
Liam Gallagher
received the prestigious PETA “Strike the Right Chord for Animals Award”. The organization reports that the award comes as animal shelters across the UK have reported an increase in cases of animal, cat and dog abandonment, saying people are choosing to buy purebred animals rather than adopt them.

“Let there be love for this adorable puppy and for Liam, whose compassionate act for animals is a wonderful example to his legions of fans,” she said
Elisa Allen
vice president of PETA programs. “PETA is very happy to appreciate him for opening his heart and home to a dog who desperately needed a loving family and PETA urges everyone to do the same and adopt, never shop.”

Gallagher expressed his thanks for the recognition, saying: “Thank you for the award. Saving Buttons was the best decision I ever made. She truly brings so much happiness to our lives and the lives of everyone she meets. We are so lucky to have her. We are obsessed I highly recommend adopting a homeless dog.”
