Lewis Capaldi returns to studio after ‘creative block’
“I haven’t picked up a guitar or written anything new”: the worst words that can come out of an artist’s mouth. 2025 has been an artistically tremendous year for Lewis Capaldiwhich found itself in the midst of a period of “creative stalemate“.
On 14 November 2025 Capaldi published “Survive“, a 13-minute EP consisting of four songs. Already from the title you can imagine what kind of moment the artist is going through, who had not released new music since the 2023 album “Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent”. In the same year he stopped live performances due to the problems caused by Tourette syndrome.
Speaking recently on the Australian radio show “Carrie and Tommy”, he said: “I haven’t written a song since March this year, I haven’t picked up the guitar or written anything new. I was in a sort of creative stall. In January, or rather, next month, I’ll have a bit of time booked in the studio and it will be the first time I go back to creating something.”
Last June he broke his fast from live performances by appearing on stage at Glastonbury: “I banned everyone from backstage,” including his parents. I was nervous, but not anxious. I’ve changed the way I see things in my head. It’s not an ‘I have to do this’ situation, but an ‘I can do this!’ situation. I banned everyone from backstage: my parents, my management. I don’t want anyone’s anxious energy coming over me.”
Capaldi will be back in Italy on June 17, 2026: all the details here.
