Lana Del Rey and Rapper Quavo Team Up for New Single

After several weeks of announcements Lana Del Rey and the Migos rapper Here I am they presented the new single “Tough”. The duo announced the collaboration back in May, sharing an excerpt on Instagram. Surprisingly, a week before the release, Quavo joined the singer on stage at Boston’s Fenway Park to perform the track together.

The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Wyatt Spain Winfrey, set in a rural landscape with guns on display. Visually, it recalls a previous video by Lana Del Rey, “National Anthem” (single from the album “Born to Die” of 2012).

“Tough” harks back to Lana’s hip-hop influences, particularly from her album “Born to Die.” It’s also the singer’s first collaboration with a rapper since 2017’s “Lust for Life,” which featured feats with The Weeknd (“Lust for Life”), A$AP Rocky (“Summer Bummer” and “Groupie Love”) and Playboy Carti (Summer Bummer). The same album also featured Steve Nicks (“Beautiful People Beautiful Problems”) and Sean Ono Lennon (“Tomorrow Never Came“)

A little over a year after the release of “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd”, this new song previews Lana Del Rey’s next album, entitled “Period”, which is due for publication in September.

The project is billed as a country album, as the singer told Rolling Stone magazine: “If you haven’t noticed, with the award-winning artists and our artists, the music industry is turning to country. We’re turning to country. It’s happening.”
