La Niña: Roots Planted in the Future

La Niña: Roots Planted in the Future

He gave us one of the most beautiful, funniest, but also significant moments of the cover evening Big Mama who, on the Ariston stage, with him, he wanted Sissi, Gaia and La Niña. All together, in the face of those who paint women as “competing”, united to sing “Lady Marmalade”. Girl power to the nth degree, a postcard from a today in which female music claims, with strength and energy, its deserved spaces. Among these wonders, there is one that we wanted to interview because we are convinced that soon we will be talking about her even more: it’s La Niña.

It is the solo project of Carola Moccia, singer-songwriter and producer born in 1991, who with his music wants to put tradition and the present in dialogue, projecting everything into the future. Between experimentation and hybridizationusing the extremely evocative and powerful language of his city, Naples, as a conduit, his research ranges from singing to writing, from theater to cinema, from dance to figurative arts up to fashion. We interviewed her and she told us about her relationship with the Neapolitan city which for her “has always been in fashion, not just today”, his music with different colors and the desire to unite apparently distant cardinal points. She smiles at her when she is told that many see in her, with all due proportions, echoes of Teresa De Sio and Rosalìa, but at the same time claims its own identity which rejects parallels.

After the great success of the single “Tu” with Franco Ricciardi, which quickly reached 17 million views on YouTube, La Niña releases her first studio album, “Vanitas” in March 2023. The same year he debuted alongside Massimo Ranieri as co-star in the series “The Voice Inside You”, produced by Lucky Red for Paramount Plus, and is responsible for part of the soundtrack. He works with Amazon Music for the creation of the musical “La Notte delle Lumere” and with Rai 2 for the show “Bar Stella”. After musical collaborations with, among others, Peppe Barra, M ¥ Ss Keta, Tosca, Gemitaiz, Clementino and Mysie, she is currently working on the next album. Naples and its music are experiencing another golden age which, rightly, will allow many artists to emerge and leave their mark. La Niña, with her free spirit and her contaminated music, is a candidate to be one of the protagonists of the near futurewhich for her and her vision of art is already an exciting present.
