La Crus: there is the first album of unreleased songs in twenty years

La Crus’ first unreleased album in twenty years – nineteen, to be precise: it was 2005 when the group shipped “Infinite Possibilities” to stores – is ready to be released. The album resulting from the reunion between Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi, Cesare Malfatti and Alex Cremonesi now has a release date and a title. The frontman himself was the one who anticipated the latter in an interview with Rockol last November, revealing the band’s desire to call the album “Proteggimi da questo che vol”: “Alex and I would like it to be titled ‘Proteggimi da what I want’, which is the title of one of the songs that will be part of it.

But the record companies would like a slightly shorter title.” In the end, the band prevailed: “Proteggimi da questo vo che”, Giovanardi now says, will be released on March 22nd.

“We started working on it before the pandemic. After the revival of the show ‘While the shadows lengthen – Scenic notes for voices, sounds and images’, we felt that there was an incredible desire for a return of La Crus. The evening before the lockdown we had dinner and promised to take advantage of the forced stop to jot down ideas, suggestions, melodies and lyrics. ‘If something good comes out, great. Otherwise, friends like before, we said to each other,” Giovanardi told Rockol. The album was preceded by the new version of “Io confesso” together with Carmen Consoli and by that of “Come ogni volta” with Colapesce and Dimartino.

On March 16th La Crus will be in concert at the Teatro Sperimentale in Pesaro for what will effectively be the zero date of the tour which will see the band return to the road in the spring. On stage Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi (vocals and harmonica), Cesare Malfatti (guitars and samples), Chiara Castello (keyboards and backing vocals), Marco Carusino (bass and guitars) and Leziero Rescigno (drums).
