Kid Yugi: the new album is “Even heroes die”
It is one of the most anticipated albums of 2026 and the official announcement has arrived: Kid Yugi will release his third studio album, “Even Heroes Die,” on January 30in physical and digital format. The album arrives two years after “The Names of the Devil” and it was anticipated by a trailer set on a film set, which stages the artist’s funeral. The camera follows the characters gathered around the coffin, while the actor Filippo Timi he delivers a monologue that introduces a final twist.
Here it is: “What does it mean to be a hero? The most common answer would be: ‘To do good with all one’s strength’. The wicked would say: ‘To fail miserably in the name of a utopia’. The academics: ‘To demonstrate courage in the face of danger and adversity.’ According to the narrator, however, these definitions belong to the past: to a world in which the distinction between good and evil appeared clear. In contemporary society, dominated by individualism and the idea of merit, these absolutes have become mixed. If the choice between good and evil is made on the basis of utility, how can we recognize a hero today? Or, worse, is it still possible to create them? Society responded in the simplest way: convincing us that everyone is special, the hero of their own story, a predestined.
It is precisely from this perspective that it was born the narrative voice of the projectthe “Memorandum,” which declares: ‘I am your memorandum. And I bring one message: even heroes die.’ Kid Yugi’s new album takes shape from this premise (here is the review of one of his live performances), which like the previous one develops around a defined concept: heroes are ordinary peopleprotagonists of their own stories, each with a beginning and an end. The border between good and evil, the analysis of contemporary society, the relationship between what is right and what is wrong, together with literary and cinematographic references, remain the central themes of Kid Yugi’s writing, whose bars continue to stand out for their originality in the Italian musical panorama.
