Kevin Parker of Tame Impala on stage with Dua Lipa at Glastonbury
Seven years after her first appearance at the Glastonbury Festival when she was still an emerging artist, last night 28 June Dua Lipa returned to Worthy Farm as a star, as the first hedliner of the 2024 edition of the historic event.
On the main stage of the festival, the Pyramid Stage, the British pop star of Kosovar origin proposed a setlist similar to that of the European tour that started in Berlin (here is our story), including songs from the new album, “Radical optimism” (read our review here), and less recent hits, but with a surprise. During the second part of the concert, the singer was joined on stage by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, who gave character to the songs of Dua Lipa’s new album that is currently being produced. The voice of “Physical” duetted with the Australian musician on a song from the latter’s project, “The less I know the better”. The song is taken from one of the most significant works in the Tame Impala discography, “Currents” from 2015, which in an interview last year the pop star herself indicated as the album that “changed her life” – and which includes the song “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” already revisited by Rihanna in her “Anti” from 2016.
According to what is indicated on setlist.fm, Dua Lipa wanted Kevin Parker by her side on the Glastonbury 2024 stage also for the closing song of the concert, the single “Houdini”.
The 2024 edition of the historic English festival will continue tonight with Coldplay’s headlining set and will conclude on Sunday 30 June with SZA starring in the main show. Like Dua Lipa’s, Chris Martin and company’s concert at Glastonbury 2024 will also be streamed for free.
