Kerry King lists five perfect metal albums
While participating in the “Lipps Service With Scott Lipps” podcast, a Kerry Kingthe guitarist of Slayerwas asked to name the “perfect” albums from some of his favorite artists.
As Blabbermouth.net reports, the 6-year-old Californian musician responded like this: “If I had to choose between Priest, it wouldn’t be ‘British Steel’, but ‘Stained Class’. If I had to choose from Sabbath it would be ‘Sabotage’. If I had to choose between AC/DC, it would be ‘Powerage’. Maiden gets tough, because ‘Killers’ and ‘The Number Of The Beast’ are very different from each other. I would probably choose ‘Number Of The.’ Beast’, because from start to finish, I think it’s stronger than ‘Killers’. It’s a tough choice because ‘Killers’ is a great record. And I have to give kudos to Metallica’s ‘Master Of Puppets’. It’s a fantastic record .”.
Still on the subject of albums, in a recent interview with the Australians Wall Of Sound, Kerry was asked which album the Black Sabbath he would bring with him if the planet was blown up and we all boarded a big spaceship and he was only allowed to take one record by the Birmingham band. He answered without any fear: “I would bring… It’s easy and it’s hard because I’m a super fan of Ronnie James Dio. But I would bring ‘Sabotage’. There’s something about the vibe of that record. It’s cool. Let me explain, I’m all cool, but there’s something to that. Maybe ‘Symptom Of The Universe’ I don’t know.
Already in 2017, King chose
“Sabotage”
as one of his ten favorite metal albums, arguing to Rolling Stone magazine: “‘Sabotage’ is just a very heavy record. There’s so much great stuff on there. When I chose these records, I chose the ones that I feel compelled to listen to whether I practice or drive, and ‘Sabotage’ was my choice for Black Sabbath, ‘Megalomania’, ‘Symptom Of The Universe’, which definitely has character, ‘Hole In The Sky’ instrumental ‘Supertzar’ I love.
Kerry King
he recently told Rolling Stone that
“Stained Class”
is the most complete album of
Judas Priest
. “I love the intro to ‘Stained Class’. And Rob Halford is my favorite singer ever, followed closely by Ronnie James Dio, followed closely by Bruce Dickinson. There are riffs on all the early records, as well as there’s a lot of them on a lot of the later ones, but it was on ‘Stained Class’ that they really found what the ‘Priest sound’ would be.”
