Kendrick Lamar and SZA surprise at Christmas concert

Kendrick Lamar did a surprise appearance at the 12th TDE Christmas Concert and Toy Drivetaking the stage next to SZA for a brief but significant “reunion”. The benefit concert was held in Los Angeles and it was organized like every year by Top Dawg Entertainment. During the evening, several artists linked to the label performed, including Doechii, Isaiah Rashad, Jay Rock, Lance Skiiiiwalker, Ray Vaughn and Zacari. Although he is no longer officially part of TDE, Lamar wanted to demonstrate his bond with the label by participating in the event and joining SZA on two key songs from their recent collaboration. The two executed “Luther”taken from Kendrick’s latest album “GNX”, e “30 For 30”featured on the deluxe reissue of SZA’s “SOS”.

“Luther” was one of the strongest pieces of the year: in addition to receiving great attention from the public, it also entered the annual list of Barack Obama’s favorite works for 2025 (which includes films, books and music) and had already been presented live during theSuper Bowl Halftime Show last February. The surprise appearance arrives a few days after the conclusion of the “Grand National Tour”the stadium tour that saw Kendrick Lamar and SZA share the stage all over the world and which ended with two consecutive dates at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on 11 December. A short but meaningful return to the stage, which confirms once again the artistic strength of the partnership between Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
