Jethro Tull: “Over Jerusalem” video comes out
THE Jethro Tull have recently released their latest album “Curious Ruminant”. Today the British band makes the animation video of the song available “Over Jerusalem”created by Studio Sparks
So he says Ian Anderson About the song:
After visiting Jerusalem to perform in concert and in Israel in general many times since 1986, I have tried, as much of the world, a growing anguish for political, social and cultural dilemmas that all citizens of the region must face daily. After the first visits, I decided to continue to perform in that city and Devolution all the proceeds to various local NGOs: mostly to those who support the co-education of Arabs, Jews and Christians, often with a musical orientation.
For the deep and complex story of Jerusalem – brilliantly told in the book ‘Jerusalem: biography of a city’ by Simon Sebag Montefiore – Many limit themselves to a simplistic vision and to take sides in a polarized way. Montefiore speaks of ‘Jerusalem syndrome’, which summarizes my slightly tormented opinions quite well.
I continue to feed a profound reverence and concern for the future of one of the most important cities of all time and for its central place in the current world. In the final verse of the song I say: ‘I have not forgotten Jerusalem’. Like a tragic love story, it remains a memory that time cannot erase. Let’s not talk about Moscow or Kiev ….

For months, after the release in April 2023 of “Rökflöte”, Ian Anderson said he would take a new project at the end of 2023. He waited only a few weeks before the first ideas began to take shape and in May 2024 some songs in the embryonic state previously recorded with John O’Hara, David Goodier and James Duncan have become the starting point for the new album, Released in March 2025.
The drafting of the texts and melodies of all the new material took place very quickly, once started seriously in June, and seems to have adapted perfectly to the atmospheres and musical styles of the previous recordings.
The texts written by Anderson in this case are more personal than we are used to hearing. Among its usual observational descriptions, there are moments of confession of the soul a little more open heart, even if not on the most often used themes of pop and rock and not in the first person.
Some of the songs have been developed starting from unfinished instrumental demo made a few years ago, even if this does not involve a huge and evident stylistic fracture. In addition to the characteristic flute and melodies solos, accordion, mandolin, acoustic guitar and tenor are present in different songs, so the subtle background of acoustic rock and folk serves to remember the legacy of the seventies of the band.
