Jerry Cantrell: New Album for Ex-Alice in Chains in October
Jerry Cantrell, one of the most distinctive musicians in rock music, returns with “I Want Blood”, an album filled with Cantrell’s signature vocals and guitar melodies, out October 18 via Double J Music.
“This record is a serious work. It’s a real bomb,” Cantrell says of his new release. “It’s hard, no doubt, and completely different from “Brighten”. And that’s what you want: to end up in a different place. There’s confidence in this album. I think it’s one of my best in terms of songs and sounds and certainly one of my best vocal performances.”
A preview of “I Want Blood” comes with the release of the first single “Vilified“. The opening track of the former Alice in Chains’ album displays a powerful, nuanced and electric energy. On bass Robert Trujillo.
“‘Vilified’ travels to a lot of places in just four and a half minutes,” Cantrell continues. “It has a ferocity and a really aggressive vibe.”
“I Want Blood”, fourth solo album, co-produced by Cantrell and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins), was recorded at Barresi’s JHOC Studio in Pasadena, California. The album features, in addition to Robert Trujillo (Metallica), also the contribution to the bass of the “heavyweight” Duff McKagan (Guns N’Roses), drummers Gil Sharone (Team Sleep, Stolen Babies) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More) and the voices of Lola Collette And Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-Dillinger Escape Plan).
Pre-orders for the album, which include CD, digital, and various double LP formats, are available here: https://bio.to/JerryCantrell. Exclusive to the 2LP vinyl versions of “I Want Blood” are “spoken versions” of every song on the album.
