Jeff Buckley's Former Memphis Home to Become a B&B

Jeff Buckley, why the biopic with Brad Pitt wasn’t made

As reported by Variety, Jeff Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, has finally revealed why the biopic on the late musician with Brad Pitt as the protagonist was never made. According to what was revealed by the American entertainment and entertainment magazine, in the early 2000s, a few years after the death of the “Grace” artist, which occurred in 1997 due to drowning in a river in Memphis, the Hollywood actor worked quite hard to pursue the project of a feature-length biographical film on Buckley.

Buckley’s mother said that among Pitt’s efforts to obtain his consent to bring the musician’s story to the big screen, there was no shortage of invitations to lunch at the actor’s home and even to his wedding with Jennifer Aniston. Among other things, as explained by Mary Guibert, Pitt was not the only one interested in playing Buckley: “If there are twenty people who call you and one of them is Brad Pitt, who do you think you’re going to see?”, he explained . However, Guibert also revealed that he had too many reservations about Pitt that he couldn’t imagine how the actor could transform into his son. “We’re going to dye your hair, put brown contacts in those blue eyes and then you open your mouth and Jeff’s voice comes out?,” Mary Guibert recalled telling Brad at the time.

Although the biopic project never came to fruition, Brad Pitt maintained contact with Mary Guibert over the years and ultimately produced Amy Berg’s new documentary, “It’s never over, Jeff Buckley,” which premiered today, January 24 , world premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.
