Jane’s Addiction “come together one last time” to resolve the differences

It was September 13, 2024 when Jane’s Addiction’s concert at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston was interrupted earlier than expected after Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro. The physical altercation on stage led to disagreementbetween the singer and the rest of the group, made up of Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, until the end of the band. The other band members also filed a $10 million lawsuit against Farrell for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract. For his part, the singer responded with his own legal document, denying any accusation.

More than a year after the incident, which occurred a few months after the reunion of the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup, Perry Farrell has decided to apologizewhile the remaining members said they had “come together one last time to resolve our differences.” To share a formal apology for what happened, Farrell decided to publish a message on his Instagram account, which reads:

“I address Boston and the rest of the world. I would like to address what happened on stage last year. I’ve been thinking about it and I know I didn’t behave as I should have. I apologize to our audience and my bandmates for losing my temper and interrupting the show. Jane’s Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the audience, and the impact we’ve had on music and culture mean more to me than I could ever put into writing. My goal has always been to give our audience the best show possible, something real, honest and positive. We fell short in Boston and I am deeply sorry to everyone who was affected. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued love and support.”

A message therefore also arrived from the official channels of Jane’s Addiction, and it reads:

“We would like to clarify the events surrounding the cancellation of the tour after the Boston show in September 2024. After that concert, without informing Perry, we unilaterally decided that it was best not to continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health, which we regret. We are here today to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction remains the work that the four of us created together. We now look to the future as we embark on paths musical and creative individuals. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we have created together. You, the fans, are our lifeblood and we will always be grateful.”
