Jack White releases two unreleased songs ahead of “SNL” with Jack Black
With a very short message on social media, Jack White announced the publication surprise with two new songs. “GOD and the Broken Ribs” And “Demonic Derecho” are the titles of the two songs available from today, April 3rd, for listening and that they anticipate the participation of the former White Stripes in tomorrow’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” which will have the actor as its exceptional host Jack Black.
“Welcome to the Garden of Eden / There’s nobody here but me and you / So what we gonna be eating?”: this is how it opens “GOD“What, what come on distorted guitar and marked drumsthen finds White sharing a message that holds together biblical references and contemporary images: “Well, it’s the beginning of the world now/ And there’s nobody left… Let’s start again… Let’s do it all over again”.
On the contrary, “Demonic Derecho” he leans on a blues structure with more funk musical phraseswhile the keyboards are more pronounced and the guitar solos decidedly imaginative. Here he seems to be faced with a personal reflection, where there is no lack of ambiguity: “Looks like you need to buy some more time / I think you need a couple more minutes”, states Jack White in the first verse.
While Jack Black will be the host – for the fifth time – of the “Saturday Night Live” in tomorrow’s April 4th episode, Jack White will be the musical guest of the evening – for his sixth participation in the program – and it is very likely that will present his two new songs live. In a video shared as a trailer together with Marcello Hernández, the actor and the musician – who had already met in the past to play on the combination of their names and surnames, even recording a song together – presented their collaboration on “SNL” joking: “It’s the Easter episode! And also that of Passover. The two most metal parties ever!“.
