In Genoa there is a new hot name like the sun: Matsby
If there is a city on which, at this moment, it is legitimate to light the spotlight, that is certainly Genoa. In recent years, from Zena, an absurd rap movement has started at national level, just think of the collectives Wild Bandana and Drilliguriaand from which, thanks to various mixes and contaminations with the historical songwriter of the territory, A pop wave was also formed whose new generation names are Ollythe last winner of the Sanremo Festival, e Alpha. Just with them, a few years ago, he left Matsby, who lately is increasingly making himself talk about himself (On the net you will also find an improper single made by all three together, “Chiara Ferragni”, they were very young). What if he was the next name, step by step, starting from the sea of the city of the lantern, to reach the summit? Matteo Martire, born in 1998, in fact, is currently one of the most interesting Genoese songwriters of the new generation and has many flavors: His is a “sweet and sour” popjust like the title of his EP, which has recently been completed with an unprecedented part.
After the sweet and carefree energy that had characterized the first part of EP, With the “Blue Edition” the artist, supported by SIC’s trusted producer, chooses to explore a more intimate and reflective territoryshowing a vulnerable and more bitter side of itself. “In 2023, to look for new stimuli and inspiration, I left and I moved as a” boy on par “in Hamburg – says the singer -songwriter – An experience that came after the realization of the “post teenager” album, at the time I was neither happy nor sad, certainly I felt incomplete. I started with a handful of sweet and sour songs in precisely that, thanks to the permanence ad Hamburghave found more and more form and substance.
The EP is made up of two large moods, the one out now, after the most carefree part, is the one in which I look at most in the mirror “. Anticipated by the singles “The girl with a thousand songs”, “sailor” and “under cash”, the EP includes two unpublished songs, “Hamburg Sud” and the focus track “Lucrezia”. The latter song, an intense and melancholy ballad, tells the story of those who leave Italy out of necessity, chasing a better future without ever feeling really at home. A song that combines delicacy and strength, capable of representing the sense of loss and hope of an entire generation. “Agrodolce (Blue Edition)” has already had a special preview on stage, with performances at the Nomadi concert in Novellara and La Boutique in Milan.
To accompany the exit, a social campaign with three video episodes, designed to tell the path behind the project. On his Instagram page it is also possible to see where he will perform, the lives in which he will present the project in his entirety. And the future?” In tomorrow I see new music and a new way of doing it – he concludes – I am learning to play the piano and guitar, I want to get my hands more and more what I do.
