Billy Corgan and the Machines of God they will bring three iconic albums of the Chicago group on tour
Billy Corganthe frontman of the rock band The Smashing Pumpkinshas announced a new solo project entitled Billy Corgan and the Machines of God.
It is a sort of “luxury” cover band which, on the occasion of the anniversaries, will commemorate the discs of the Chicago group with live sets that will see songs from the legendary albums “in the lineup”Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness“(1995), The two albums”Machina/The Machines of God“(2000) and”Machina II/The Friends & Aenemies of Modern Music“(2001), as well as from the 2024 album,”AGHORI MHORI MEI“, With a national tour in the United States that will start this summer.
The tour, entitled “A Return to Zero”, will start on June 7 and will see the group made up of four elements also engaged in already confirmed festivals.
The “A Return to Zero Tour” will reintroduce the formation of four elements and two sets of guitars with which the music of these fundamental albums of the Pumpkins was created. The shows will present classic songs and pieces taken from the acclaimed records. In addition to Corgan, The Machines of God will see the presence of the current guitarist of the Smashing Pumpkins Kiki Wongrecently recruited, the drummer Jake Hayden and the bassist Kid Tigrrr (Jenna Fournier).
Together with the announcement of the tour, the Smashing Pumpkins have revealed the details of the long -awaited and renewed publication of the “Machine/The Machines of God” concept albums and “Machina II/the Friends & Enemies of Modern Music”, widely remixed and remastered.
The Teacoteca, but also Merchandising Madame Zuzu’s shop owned by Corgan in Highland Park, Illinois, will offer exclusively a large box of 80 songs, which contains a “machine” of 48 tracks plus another 32 demo bonus tracks, outttakes and live performance, scoring the first time that these two records will be officially united.
In addition, on August 22, the Rock Band will publish a reissue of 16 songs from the original vinyl “Machina/The Machines of God”.
Smashing pumpkins are expected in Italy this summer for two concerts: the July 30th at the Music Park in Milan as part of another festival a Segrate, near Milanand the August 1st at the Capannelle Hippodrome inside the billboard of Rock in Rome.
Also on the occasion of the 30 years from the release of “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” Corgan made a lyrical version of the disc curated by the Lyric Opera di Chicago which will be staged for seven evenings, from 21 to 30 November this year, in the city of origin of the band’s leader (Read here).
