Imagine Dragons usher in a new era with "Eyes Closed"

Imagine Dragons: Daniel Platzman officially leaves the band

In a message shared on his official Instagram profile, drummer Daniel Platzman announced his decision to leave Imagine Dragons after more than a decade as a member of the “Believer” lineup.

“After an incredible journey spanning over a decade, I will be leaving the amazing band Imagine Dragons. I wanted to share my deepest gratitude with you, the fans, for your unwavering support and for sharing the joy of music with me,” the musician wrote in the post, explaining the reasons behind this decision, adding:

“Connecting with all of you has truly been the greatest experience of this chapter. I’m excited to soon share more about the projects I’ve been hard at work on over the past few months, centered around my greatest passion: film scoring and composing. I promise you’ll be the first to know. Stay tuned.”

The band has yet to announce who will replace Daniel Platzman on the drums. The drummer announced his intention to take a break from the band last year, and the announcement of the split comes after the release of Imagine Dragons’ new album, “Loom” (here’s our review), which doesn’t include Platzman’s name on the credits.
