Hollywood, a star on the Walk of Fame for Dr. Dre

The former co-founder and beatmaker of the Californian gangsta rap giants NWA, a producer with a magical touch (and a great nose) as well as a successful entrepreneur (who by selling Beats to Apple in 2014 pocketed, together with his partner Jimmy Iovine, also a producer , the beauty of three billion dollars) Dr Dre was awarded a “star” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a portion of Hollywood Boulevard which on its pavement celebrates, through dedicated star-shaped inscriptions, the great personalities of cinema, music, radio and TV.

Accompanying Dre – born Andre Romell Young, born in Compton, also in Los Angeles, 59 years ago – were also present at the ceremony, including Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent, all of his protégés who attended the 2022 Super Bowl haftime show , played in Los Angeles and dedicated to the glorious local rap scene.

“I was born and raised in Compton: I never imagined that, one day, I would find myself represented here, along with some of my childhood heroes,” explained Dre at the star award ceremony: “I had the lucky to make a living doing exactly what I love to do. How about? Isn't it a dream?”.

“I want to thank myself for answering Dre's call in 1991,” joked Snoop Dogg in his celebratory speech dedicated to his friend and mentor: “I want to thank myself for always listening to him and allowing him to be my teacher, mentor and brother, tutor , protector and – above all – good friend”.
