Here’s who will sing with Soundgarden at the R ‘n’ R Hall of Fame

The evening of the. will take place on November 8th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the class of 2025. And among the names celebrated and admitted into the pantheon of rock there are also the Soundgarden: Guitarist Kim Thayl and drummer Matt Cameron spoke to The Seattle Times about their plans for the evening. The band is in the rehearsal room and will be joined on stage by several singers, who will take the place of the late Chris Cornell: Brandi Carlile, The Taylor Momsen (Pretty Reckless), Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), and Nancy Wilson of Heart will sing with the band. The band will also reunite with Hiro Yamamoto, the group’s first bassist until before “Badmotorfinger”, when he left the group replaced by Ben Shepherd.

“We wanted it to be as Seattle-centric as possible and include some of the people who were there with us in the beginning,” said Matt Cameron, while Thayil – who will publish an autobiography next year – added: “Having colleagues, friends and creative collaborators from here who share this with us is very important. It’s very important because it’s part of our identity. We’re not just ‘rock guys’ in this band, Soundgarden. We’re rock guys in this band, Soundgarden, which helped create the scene and the Seattle sound. Geography is very important to our identity. It’s where we are, it’s where we come from.”

Thayl then pleaded Alice In Chains’ case at the Hall of Fame and talked about Cornell “I think Chris would have really appreciated this moment of recognition, because he was an ever-evolving artist. He was always looking for the next phase of his career as a songwriter, as an artist. … Maybe in the future he will be recognized as a solo artist or (for) Temple of the Dog or something, because his contribution to music was absolutely enormous.”

The band is continuing to work on the posthumous album featuring Chris Cornell’s last songs. In addition to Soundgarden, this year’s inductees into the Hall of Fame in the main performer category include Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, White Stripes And Cyndi Lauper.
