Liam Gallagher criticizes Damon Albarn for his Coachella rage

Here’s what Liam Gallagher thinks of The Cure

Liam Gallagherperhaps also stimulated by the immediacy that is a characteristic of social media, certainly did not use a broad turn of phrase to express his opinion on his compatriots Care: “I’m not depressed.”

The singer of Oasis he responded with those few words to a tweet from a fan who had posted a photo of him wondering ‘who is this here?’. The youngest of the Gallagher brothers replied, witty and cheeky as always, “The vicar of fucking Dibley” referring to a BBC television series from the nineties.

Another fan then also entered the message exchange with a “Listen to the Cure”, thus stimulating the 52-year-old Liam to reply “I’m not depressed”. Another user of the social network advised him mildly, “Liam you can’t hate the Cure”, to which the Manchester rock star cut short by saying: “I don’t hate them, but I’d rather listen to two foxes fucking in the bushes at 5.30am of the morning”.

Although Liam doesn’t seem to like the band very much
Robert Smith
his brother is of a different opinion
Noel
who had the opportunity to collaborate with the frontman of
Care
for a remix of the song
“Pretty Boy”
included on his 2023 album

Speaking to NME about how that collaboration came about,
Noel Gallagher

he told it in detail: “Because the song sounds like The Cure, then I thought, ‘Robert Smith does remixes?’ I sent him an email, the first line said, ‘Hi Robert, I’m Noel Gallagher’.

At that point I thought he was going to say, ‘Fuck it.’ He emailed me back with a ‘Send me the track.’ I did and fuck: if I thought it sounded like The Cure when it came out, it sure did when it came back! It wasn’t until I played it to a few people and someone said, ‘It’s Oasis, The Smiths and The Cure on the same fucking track’ and I was like, ‘That’s crazy! What a crazy idea!’ I’ve never met him, but I’m an admirer of his songs from ‘Boys Don’t Cry’.”

Noel continued: “When I finally met him, I told him that I remember buying their singles album ‘Standing On The Beach, Staring At The Sea’ at HMV in Manchester. people said to me, ‘Do you like The Cure?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, just because you like The Cure doesn’t mean you have to wear lipstick!’ You know what I mean? Then I met him and he’s a very funny man. He’s actually very funny even over email.”
