Health problems for the Scorpions drummer
The Scorpions have announced that they will postpone their next performance in Las Vegas, scheduled to coincide with the band’s 60th anniversary, to allow their drummer, Mickey Deeto recover from illness.
Dee, former drummer for Motöhead until Lemmy’s death in 2015, revealed on January 2, 2025 that he had recently been hospitalized for septicemia, a serious blood infection, due to the body’s overreaction to an infection and potentially lethal.
Dee confirmed that he was close to death at one point and had to undergo several surgeries. He also said that despite health problems, he is back home and recovering.
He discovered the infection after spraining his ankle in December 2024. “I was immediately operated on,” he wrote, “They cut away what was dead, infected and badly infested. It was not a good trip I was on… Another day and I would have been playing drums with Lemmy in heaven.” I can say this.”
The Scorpions confirmed on social media that they had to postpone their performance in Las Vegas due to Dee’s recent health issue.
While he was on the mend, they said he needed a little more time to recover. “We regret to inform you that due to Mikkey Dee’s ongoing recovery following his recent hospitalization, we have decided to postpone our residency, “Coming Home to Las Vegas,” to August 2025,” they wrote,
“Our brother’s health and well-being are of the utmost importance. We wish Mikkey a full and speedy recovery and look forward to playing with you all again soon!”
Despite the postponement of the residency, the band will still tour in March. They will perform in Mexico City and embark on a series of dates across South America. Scorpions will also tour Europe in June and July, before heading to Las Vegas to honor the postponed dates.
The European concerts include the performance of 10 July 2025 at the Lucca Summer Festival. Already in 2019 they took the stage in Piazza Napoleone as guests of the event in the Tuscan city.
