Guccini: “I don’t know if anyone has taken up the legacy of the songwriters”
From December 5th to 8th comes to the cinemain a restored version, the video testimony of evening that on 21 June 1984 saw Francesco Guccini perform in front of a large crowd in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna to celebrate his first 20 years of career. On the occasion of the release of the concert film, and the return to stores of the double live album “Francesco Guccini: between the Via Emilia and the West“, the singer-songwriter from Pavana gave a long chat to the “Corriere della Sera”. In addition to reflections on politics and current affairs, during the chat the artist also shared personal thoughts on the current music scene confirming that I can’t find any songs to listen to.
When asked by Barbara Visentin of “Corriere della Sera” whether it is true that he no longer listens to musicFrancesco Guccini replied:
“I don’t listen to anything anymore. Maybe there is someone who has taken up the legacy of the old songwriters, but I have no idea. Genres change, the type of listening changes, everything changes. Record shops don’t even exist anymore.”
About what images does he remember from the “oceanic concert” of 1984, described by himself as “the first oceanic evening for an Italian singer-songwriter“, Guccini also said: “I have somewhat vague memories, I remember a lot of people filling everything up and an anxiety before the concert which then eased because things went very well”.
