Father John Misty, a song against Kendrick Lamar and his album
Every week, Friday is the day dedicated to the release of new music, including singles and albums already announced some time ago, as well as some surprises. As already known, yesterday – November 22 – Joshua Michael Tillman, aka Father John Misty, shared his new studio work, “Mahashmashana“. On the same day, but without warning and surprising the public, Kendrick Lamar released the new album “GNX“. In response to the coincidence, in addition to some jokes on social media, the musician then shared an unreleased song on social media.
With his usual sharp humor, Father John Misty made the point on social media the coincidence that for over a decade has seen him release new albums in the same year as the Compton rapper and wrote: “Not me now that I’m racking my brain to write my answer.” One user, referring to Kendrick Lamar’s surprise release that attracted widespread attention yesterday, also responded to the musician’s post by saying: “I’m so sorry that yours came out on the worst possible day to release a new album “. Tillman shot back: “Okay, so much has already happened in 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2022.” As “Consequence” nicely points out, Father John Misty seems not to have noticed that in 2018, when he released his “God’s Favorite Customer”, the soundtrack of “Black Panther” edited by Lamar was released.
For the occasion, Joshua Michael Tillman also shared on his Instagram profile a song titled “God’s Trash” and accompanied by an image that is ironic about the photo chosen by Kendrick Lamar for his recent song against Drake.
