Goodbye to Chris Cross, historic bassist of Ultravox
Chris Cross, historic bassist, keyboardist and co-author of Ultravox, has passed away at the age of 71 (pictured on the right, at a concert in Milan in 2012). The musician, born Christopher Thomas Allen, passed away on March 25th. The sad news, however, was only given later, confirmed on social media today – 2 April – by the frontman of the London band Midge Ure. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
“We worked together, we played together, made music and directed videos together. We immediately became friends, as well as being partners in Ultravox. Even after years apart from each other, we managed to pick up where we left off, as if the years in between had never passed,” Ure wrote in a post:
“You were the glue that held the band together. You were the logic in the madness and the madness in our lives. It was really nice to know you and grow with you. You are loved and we miss you, old friend.”
