Giorgia’s journey: the return to (her) stage
X Factor has just ended, but Giorgia is already on stage, hers: the singer took back the scene with the Palasport tour which last night stopped at the Unipol Forum in Milan, where the voice of “La cura per me” brought her hits such as “E poi”, “Girasole”, “Come saprei” and “Di sole e d’azzurro” – with the inevitable standing ovation – and songs from the new album “G”, which debuted at number 1 in the charts.
Giorgia elegant and luminous, Giorgia with a ready joke, Giorgia who posts ironic photos on social media. Always her, who step by step has demonstrated that she has definitively emerged from the “Quicksand”, from the difficult period of a few years ago. The concert is built as a journey of over 2 hours where it is impossible not to sing: Giorgia, “L’unica”. And this is precisely the song chosen to start the show and immediately warm up the souls and vocal cords. Preceded by a techno and multicolor musical moment, Giorgia appears on a platform suspended in the air as if wanting to enjoy the scene from above.
The show continues among changing scenography that between sea waves, fireworks and galaxies accompany the storytelling of the setlist, a slalom between historical pieces that make everyone turn on their phones to take home the right “story” to post, new discoveries (nice to hear “Carillon”, “Quicksand”, “Paradossale” and “Golpe” live for the first time) and covers such as “I feel love” by Donna Summer, “Il cielo in una stanza” by Gino Paoli, “We found love” by Rihanna and Calvin Harris. Accompanying Giorgia on stage are Sonny Thompson (bass/guitar), Mike Scott (guitar), William Mylious Johnson (drums), Gian Luca Ballarin (piano/keyboards), Diana Frodella (chorister), Andrea Faustini (chorister), Valentina Sgarbossa (strings – cello), Caterina Coco (strings – violin), Alessio Cavalazzi (strings – violin), Matteo Lipari (strings – viola).
Giorgia receives applause and ovations, before having gifts and letters from little fans passed onto the stage. “I haven’t prepared a speech – he says – I think the best word is thank you; for this bond, this affection that has been renewed for a long time. In everyone’s lives there are more up and down moments and I thought it was bizarre that this city, these people, represents a timely appointment. A few years ago we were here, there weren’t so many of us, but it’s precisely from there that a wave started again. And it’s thanks to you. I don’t want to get heavy, I’ll stay for a moment – he jokes – but I invite you to sing, to feel free and united.”
There is also space for two special guests – now a practice in Italian pop concerts. Irama enters to sing “Buio” welcomed by the enthusiasm of the fans and by Giorgia who thanks him for “this darkness”, followed shortly after by Blancowho a few days after the Marracash concert returns to the Forum stage to sing “La cura per me” with Giorgia, a song he wrote together with Michelangelo, which won over the Sanremo audience last year and which – in the duet version – placed third in the Fimi singles chart.
Among the most emotional moments – and it could not be otherwise – was also the one dedicated to Pino Daniele with “Se mi ordini” sung in a mash up “made for us” explains Giorgia, who shares the scene with the trusted choristers Andrea Faustini and Diana Frodella.
Another exchange with the audience on the final lines, with a birthday request – “When a star dies”, “What’s up with a birthday?” The Roman singer asks before complying with the request given that “we are now in the jukebox moment” – and “All I want for Christmas” complete with a Santa hat from the audience.
The live performance ends with “Golpe”, a single which from the first day of radio programming flew to first place in the charts and which the public appreciated so much that they did not “run away” to avoid the confusion of the release, but remained in place to sing the last song with the queen, who will continue the tour until December 22nd and then take a well-deserved break and return in March 2026 to the stages of the indoor stadiums in Turin, Rome, Bari, Bologna, Milan, Florence and Padua.
And to respond to those who still would like to continue, he responds with his usual irony: “We’ll have to do another tour with the songs we haven’t done!”.
