Gilmour: “The album? The best since The Dark Side Of The Moon”
David Gilmour he talked about his upcoming solo album, “Lucky And Strange”and explained that it is the best music he has made since Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. Speaking to Prog Magazine, Gilmour, who was famously a member of Pink Floyd before launching his solo career, said of his upcoming record: “It’s been over 50 years since “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. My feeling is that this album is the best album I’ve ever made in all those years since 1973.since that project came out.” In another part of his chat with the magazine, Gilmour also mentioned that will soon begin work on a sequel to “Luck And Strange” and is looking forward to reuniting with several collaborators: “Our plan is just to get this record out and get it out there as much as possible, and then make another one right away.”
We have dedicated an in-depth article to the project that you can read here. The album will be released on September 6th – you can already pre-order it on the Sony Music website – and immediately afterwards the 78-year-old British musician will let you listen to it live for the first time in Rome, on the occasion of the six shows announced at Circo Massimo, those scheduled for September 27, 28, 29 and October 1, 2 and 3. The album is David Gilmour’s first in nine years, as many as have passed since the release of “Rattle That Lock.” And it promises to be one of his most inspired, too. Tcandles and pedals scattered everywhere, in a series of videos published on YouTube to ease the fans’ wait, the author of some of Pink Floyd’s most iconic guitar riffs – starting with “Wish you were here” – takes fans on a spiritual journey through his new album. “It’s very difficult to describe exactly how the guitar parts come out, because they jump out at me and demand to be heard. I can’t really explain it, but it’s a lot of fun when it happens the right way.. But it’s annoying when one part doesn’t work: weeks go by and you’re there looking for something, but you can’t find it,” he said.
