From Tiziano Ferro to Springsteen: the records of the week
Another week full of releases scheduled for October 24th, with albums ranging from Italian pop to international auteur rock. Tiziano Ferro returns with “Sono un grande”, an album that marks a new phase in his career, between introspection and declarations of personal strength. On the international front, Bruce Springsteen celebrates the myth of Nebraska with the expanded edition “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition”, a precious sound document that brings to life the rawness and poetry of that spartan and legendary work. Two contemporary protagonists arrive from the Italian urban scene: Charlie Charles with his new producer project and Mecna, who continues his refined path between rap and songwriting.
Bruce Springsteen – “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition”
Bruce Springsteen fans have a Holy Grail, the existence of which until recently was also uncertain: an electric version of “Nebraska”, the Boss’ masterpiece which, before seeing the light in the form of demos recorded at home, would have been recorded in the studio. Now it sees the light. Coinciding with the release in Italian cinemas, on October 23, of “Bruce Springsteen: Liberami dal niente”, the film that tells the genesis of “Nebraska”, a special reissue of the album arrives in stores which also contains the legendary “Electric Nebraska” sessions with the musicians of the E Street Band, as well as other unreleased material, including solo songs recorded that were excluded at the time of publication, and a live performance with the entire album, recently recorded in a theater.
Tiziano Ferro – “I’m great”
“‘I am great’ gave me the chance to rebuild myself as an artist and as a person: it is the mirror of everything I have experienced in the last period. It led me to experience everything with a new, more adventurous spirit. I got closer to my essence, rediscovering sounds that I thought I had left behind”: this is how Tiziano Ferro presents his new album of unreleased songs. “I’m a great” arrives three years after the previous “Il mondo è nostri” and is the ninth album by the Latina singer-songwriter. This was anticipated by the single “Cuore Brotto”, which marked Ferro’s return to the sounds and atmospheres of his early years, between r&b, hip hop and electronics, moving the hands of time back twenty years to go back to 2001 with “Rosso Relativo” or 2003 with “111”. Among the producers with whom the voice of “Sere nere” worked, in addition to Marco Sonzini, an Italian sound engineer, but based in Los Angeles, with whom Ferro has been collaborating for some time, there are also Marz and Zef, or Stefano Tognini and Alessandro Pulga, the former born in 1990 and the latter in 1989, already alongside Marracash, Fabri Fibra, Guè and most of the protagonists of the scene. “Working with a new team gave me the opportunity to look at what I do with new eyes, it was the opportunity to change some aspects of the job and fall in love with the profession of music again”, he says.
Charlie Charles – “The Beautiful Confusion”
“For days, Milan observed silence. Isolated words appeared as fragments, without voice or author. Then, yesterday, the face. A writing: Paolo. And today, finally, the picture is composed”. With these words, after some billboards placed in the Milanese city, Charlie Charles’ new project was revealed, who announced on his social channels the release of “La Bella Confusione”, his first producer album arriving on October 24th. “‘The beautiful confusion’ is Paolo’s first album, produced by Charlie Charles. A film without a script, where confusion becomes truth”, we read, playing on the idea of a personal project. The guests present are not yet known, but the feeling is that the multi-platinum producer, who brought trap into the mainstream, wants to amaze.
Mecna – “Discord, harmony and other states of mind”
“Discordia, armonia e altri stati d’animo”, Mecna’s new album, arrives on October 24th. With this work, the artist multiplies his souls: from personal conflict to inner harmony, passing through complex emotional nuances. The single “Ritratto”, a precursor of the project, acts as a sincere X-ray of the moment he finds himself in, reflecting on the past, present and relationships. It arrives approximately two and a half years after “Stupido amore” and follows the EP “Introspezione”, resuming and expanding the path already undertaken. On the sound level, international influences emerge such as Bon Iver, Rex Orange County and Dijon, merged with the artist’s Italian identity.
