Franz Di Cioccio: “Let’s clarify things a little”
The leader of the PFM Franz Di Cioccio – that last week he crossed the 80-year mark – on his Facebook profile he published a message to clarify some statements such as his possible entry into the Led Zeppelin as a replacement for John Bonham and, still on the subject of the Seventies, on title of the Corriere della Sera from a couple of days ago in which one of his interviews was presented like this: ‘Franz Di Cioccio: «Phil Collins says that without Pfm there would have been no Genesis. I have six dogs and seven cats.”
This is the message from the drummer and singer of the PFM published on social media: “Good evening everyone. Let’s clarify things a little. No one has ever declared that Genesis must say thanks to Pfm for who they are. Phil Collins declared that thanks to Pfm, and I would also add thanks to the entire Italian prog scene of the time, Genesis began the hoped-for success. The band had already been active for some time, but in their homeland they did not yet have a large following. When they arrived in Italy for the first time, I think in Veneto, they had a minimal audience, but soon, thanks to the fertile area of Italian prog, they rightly reached an audience of 4000-5000 people. The rest is history. Genesis are an artistically high band, they didn’t need anyone to demonstrate their skill on a stage. With that statement, Collins thanked Pfm because in Italy they had found an already prepared audience. There was only one story Zeppelin. I was also flattered because Bonzo has always been a point of reference for me. I thanked him but immediately declined the invitation. Honestly, I would never have left Pfm, not even for a great group like Led Zeppelin. I hope there are no more incorrect interpretations.
