Franco Battiato: a mural celebrating him appears in Riposto

A writing that borrows the title of one of his most beloved, enigmatic and emblematic songs: “E ti vengo a cerca”. And three figures: that of the artist as a child (the image is from the cover of the album “Fisiognomica”, a photo taken from family albums), that of the artist at the time of the great success of “La voce del padrone” and that of the artist in the last years of his life. In Riposto, a small town in the province of Catania where the artist was born, a mural celebrating Franco Battiato has surprisingly appeared. The work was created by the artist from Palermo Igor Scalisi Palminteri and was unveiled on the occasion of the inauguration, last Friday, of the “Stranizza d’amuri” review, organized by the Sicilian town to remember the singer-songwriter more than three years after his death.

The mural was inaugurated, with the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Battiato, in the presence of Michele Battiato, Franco’s brother. “I have always felt a strong sense of respect and belonging towards Franco Battiato. From listening to his songs, especially those in which he talks about his childhood, I see myself as a child. It is Sicily itself, my Sicily. Finding myself here, at 50 years old, painting the mural dedicated to him, creating this triple portrait that tells his three ages, for me is a fundamental step, it is an honor”, commented the artist who created the mural
