For La Sad the summer ends at Carroponte with many guests
For The Sad it ended yesterday evening, September 7tha summer of concerts dedicated to “Summersad Tour 2024“. To host thelast stop of the summer tour of the trio formed by Theø, Plant and Fiks it was the Overhead crane of Sesto San Giovanni, at the gates of Milan For the occasion, the concert area was dyed A of green, pink and blue, like the colors that distinguish the three members of the group, who starting from 2020 have built their own project and image, between colored hair and unconventional attitudes, playing down and updating a look inspired by the provocative extravagances that came from the mind of Vivienne Westwood at the time of Sex in the mid-Seventies, contributing to the style of the punk movement.
After participating in .Sanremo 2024 with the song “Autodistruttivo”a second album ironically and evocatively titled “I Hate The Sad”, Theø, Plant and Fiks respond to the controversy that has arisen around their image even on stage through their desire to transform pain and hatred into art. While the Carroponte welcomes fans of all agesfrom teenagers to children and adults, in a generational meeting, on stage the scream of La Sad arrives once again as a cry against all criticism that there are towards the different, and on stage they face each other with hilarity and sarcasm themes such as sadness, drug addiction, toxic love, disorders. What makes the last date of the “Summersad Tour 2024” special is not only the euphoria of La Sad and the priests, but also of the many guests that follow one another between one song and another.
The beginning of the concert at 9:15 pm on September 7th is dictated by the words of criticism that, especially in recent months with the great media exposure thanks to the Sanremo Festival, the trio has seen rained down on them. “This is not music”, “you are just drug addicts”, are some of the phrases that can be heard from a lady on stage at the beginning of the live, pushing Theø, Plant and Fiks to make their entrance on stage to open the evening with the song “I Hate The Sad“. Accompanied as always by Moka (Omar Sadaka) on guitar and Andrea Junior Bessone on drums, even live the group builds its own sound by taking up the effrontery and frenzy inspired by the pop-punk of the 2000s, but combined with influences from other genres, from rap to trap, to popbetween fast rhythms, distortions and the digital voice filtered by autotune.
The atmosphere you breathe at Carroponte is that of a partywhere the older ones start pogos and roundabouts in the pit, and the children on the adults’ shoulders wave their hands in the air. Immediacy and cheekiness they carry the energy of the group and the fans, where the desire to vent and let go prevails over the technical precision of the live performance. Theengagement effect it is therefore assured, while the group plays more recent songs together with pieces from the early days, such as “Miss U” And “Psycho girl“, before “Memory” from the latest album – originally recorded with Bnkr44, sadly absent.
After one of the catchphrases of La Sad, “Summersad 2”, followed by the “Beauty Salon” moment, it’s time for the first big guest of the evening: Donatella Rector. “The queen of Italian punk”, as Theø, Plant and Fiks present her on stage, joins the group for their classic “Razor Blades“, in the version revisited for the last Sanremo Festival where she was a guest of the trio on the cover night. The adrenaline does not drop at the end of this generational and soul meeting, and so there is room for another sketch that sees a fan chosen from the audience to go on stage to get tattooed while the band plays “Sad child“. After “You don’t know“, Sad proposes “Wale” with Dario dei Givewith whom the trio had recorded the remix of their “Wale (tanto wale)” in 2022, which almost fifteen years earlier had catapulted the emo imagery into Italian pop.
“Niente x sempre” is the track that anticipates the first moment of pause of the concert, ready to start again with the cry of “Sto nella Sad” and “Tutto fatto”, to prepare the audience for the second great special guest. It’s time J-Ax to go on stage with La Sad to perform the collaborative song “Goodbye“. The trio is ready to continue an evening dedicated to guests and for the first live performance of “Addio” calls upon Jack Outto then invite Naska on “Summersad 4”.
With the phone lights blaring on “Toxic”, the evening draws to a close, but not before the entrance of .Riccardo Zanotti of Tactical Nuclear Penguins to sing “Maledetta vita” with the group, followed by the Sanremo single “Autodistruttivo” – which La Sad wrote in collaboration with the frontman of the band from Bergamo. The concert then comes to an end on the notes of “La Sad italiana”, with which Theø, Plant and Fiks are determined to leave their mark by taking a stand “against all forms of violence, not only physical, but also psychological” – says the band at the end, saying goodbye with the cry of “Long live peace“.
