Two Blur feature films coming soon

For Alex James of the Blur, the Oasis Reunion is “wonderful”

Alex Jamesthe bassist of Blurhe said he was “very happy” for the reunion of his former rivals of the Britpop Oasis, adding that if the meeting was “fantastic for the Blur” and it will also be for Noel and Liam.

The two groups faced each other in a legendary rivalry that crossed the peak of the Britpop in the nineties and that remained so famous to the point that last year it was revealed that a theatrical show was arriving in the West End based precisely on that turbulent period. Not even the “presumed” rivalry Beatles Vs Rolling Stones has led to these levels.

The announcement of theatrical production came after both bands made themselves talked about in 2024

The Blur made available “To the End”, a documentary that followed their reunion and their return album of 2023 “The Ballad of Darren” and their great shows at the Wembley stadium in London in the same summer.

The Oasis, meanwhile, shocked the fans by announcing their long -awaited reconciliation and subsequent dates of the 2025 reunion tour.

Despite the previous tensions between the two bands, James said that the news that Noel and Liam returned together after spending years at the short irons was “wonderful”.

Reflecting on previous struggles inside the Blur – with the guitarist Graham Coxon Who had temporarily left the band and then gathered with them in 2008 -ALEX James told The Sun: “It was fantastic for the Blur and I am very happy for the Gallagher”.

“From the point of view of the Blur, I am happy with what I feel every day … the fact that there has been a reconciliation and that we are everyone again on good relationships … because when something is such an important part of your life you don’t want to be exiled,” he added.

Even if he is convinced that Reunion is good for the Gallagher and for the fans, he will not be present at the concert, reiterating what he had revealed last year saying that “honestly he will not go there”.

In the same interview with the Sun, the bassist spoke of the lasting popularity of both groups. “It’s a generation ago,” he said about their successes. “The songs that still live and breathe since those days, perhaps have reached classic status”.

James will play the hit of the Blur and Oasis, in addition to those of other Britpop stars such as Pulp, Supergrass, on the occasion of the Britpop Classical concert at this year’s Big Festival. The event, which combines live music and gastronomic attractions, will be held on the James farm in Cotswolds, near Kingham, in the Oxfordshire, from 22 to 24 August.

Just like in the Ministry of Sound Classical concerts – that reim -face classic dance songs with an orchestra and guest singers – the musician and manufacturer of cheeses will lead a classic Britpop set, with a live band together with a complete orchestra, on the closing evening (24 August) of its three -day festival.

As a tasting of the concert, a Britpop Classical string quartet performed a series of classics on the occasion of an event held at the beginning of the month, including the successes of the Blur “Song 2”, “Parklife” and “The Universal” together with “Bitter Sweet Symphony” by The Verve, “Wonderwall” and “Don’t look back in Angers” of the Oasis and “Creep” of Radiohead.

James also played a DJ set of Britpop classics, including a remix of “Song 2” of the Blur combined with “Smells Like Teen Spirit” of the Nirvana, “Wake Up Boo!” Of The Boo Radleys and old classics such as “There Goes” by The La E “The Only One I Know” of the Charlaans.

As for the Blur we remember that in 2000 after the release of the anthological collection Blur: The Best of “(which followed the studio album” 13 “of 1999), the guitarist Graham Coxon begins to move away from the band that he leaves in 2002 during the recordings of the album” Think Tank “that was released in 2003.

The album follows a silence that lasted until 2 and 3 July 2009 when, with a double concert held at the Hyde Park in London, the band returns to the scene with the presence of Graham Coxon.

A live activity still follows but for a new album it is necessary to wait for April 2015 when “The Magic Whip” comes out with the presence in some songs of the rediscovered guitarist. In July 2023 Albarn and members return with a new album entitled “The Ballad of Darren”. A few days earlier on 8 and 9 July 2023 Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowrene are together again On stage for two live appointments at the Wembley Stadio (the recordings of the two dates are available on albums). In the following tour on 22 July 2023 the Blurs were hosting the Lucca Summer Festival.
