Fontaines DC, shock: manager Trevor Dietz has died
Mourning at the Fontaines DC house. With a shocking post shared on their official social channels, the Irish band, with over 1 billion streams worldwide, praised by critics and the public for having brought rock back to the top of the charts, announced the premature death of their manager Trevor Dietz. He was 54 years old.
«We are completely devastated to know that on Sunday 7 June we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor»: thus begins the post shared by Grian Chatten and partners. “Trevor has been by our side since the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines DC without him,” the post continues. Considered by Fontaines DC themselves as «the sixth member of the band», Dietz «cared passionately about us and what was right and correct in the whole world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him.”
The band asks that you respect the family’s privacy. The cause of Dietz’s disappearance was not disclosed.
Trevor Dietz was a central figure for the new Irish rock scene. Promoter of the Worman’s Club, a reference venue on the Dublin circuit, every Sunday he brought emerging Irish artists on stage in search of a recording contract, acting in all respects as talent scouts. This was exactly how he discovered Fontaines DC: the band made its debut in 2019 with the album “Dogrel”, published by Partisan Records, an independent US label, before moving to XL in 2024.
