Fontaines DC: a pounding new song

There are those who fear that the Fontaines DC, in the wake of the results obtained in recent years, lose the rock and punk spirit that characterizes them. Judging by the spoilers that are giving away these days on a new song, probably soon to be published, this risk, for the moment, seems to have been averted. The Irish band has not released new music since their 2022 third album, “Skinty Fia”(with the exception of a cover of Nick Drake's “Cello Song” for a compilation), but it seems that a return is very close.

In the new thirty-second clip they posted on social media, frontman Grian Chatten, shirtless in bright green trousers, with a swollen black eye and heavy cuts and bruises everywhere, he's probably on the set of a video clip, he's stroking a pig, while the mysterious song plays loudly. “I want to see you alone / I want to sharpen the stone / I want to bounce the bone / I want to ruin it,” Chatten sings quickly, over a tight and powerful rhythm, with the guitar cutting through the sound and enriching it. In December, the band he collaborated with Massive Attack and Young Fathers to release a limited edition 12-inch single to support Doctors Without Borders in their relief efforts in Gaza. The group will be in Italy this summer: the June 23rd at Lido di Camaiore, Lucca, at Bussoladomani Parkand the June 25th in Rome, at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica.
