Fatboy Slim releases the mashup with the Rolling Stones after 25 years
“Satisfaction Skank”, a mashup between his 1999 song “The Rockafeller Skank” and the Stones classic “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, had become a classic of Fatboy Slim’s sets – unofficially. After 25 years the Rolling Stones approved the use of the sample and the song finally officially sees the light.
“I got a call from Mick Jagger, he said he had heard the song and he liked the mix,” Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Cook) told the BBC. “Initially the management was adamant: ‘No, we’re not talking about it.’ It was a firm no for twenty years. I think we asked four times, then I would never have dared to do it again.”
Now, the band has changed its position, authorizing Cook to reconstruct the piece using the original tracks of “Satisfaction”: according to what the Guardian reported, they were delivered to the producer in an armored van. The song is already available on the platforms and will be accompanied by a video directed by Tom Furse (member of The Horrors).
