Farewell to Mark Volman, founder of the Turtles
He died at the age of 78 Mark Volmanco -founder of Turtles and co-author of several of their hits. According to what reported by Variety, Volman died yesterday in his home in Nashville following a sudden illness. In 2015, the American musician had been diagnosed with throat cancer, a disease declared healed the following year.
In 2023, Volman had revealed that he was suffering from dementia. At the time he said he had received the diagnosis in 2020. “I was overwhelmed by the awareness that this would have created a completely new part of my life. I said to myself: ‘Ok, whatever must happen will happen, but I will do my best'”. At the time he explained that he had heard that something was wrong with already in 2018. “I remember having podden and not being sure of what was going on. My wandering brain. I went off topic. It didn’t make sense.”
