Farewell to dancer and singer Cat Glover, who collaborated with Prince
Catherine “Cat” Glover, a former choreographer, dancer, and singer for Prince, has died at the age of 60. The cause of death, which occurred on September 24, has not yet been released.
The sad news came via a message shared on Cat Glover’s official Facebook page. The post read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Vernice Glover, aka ‘Cat’. Please respect the privacy of her children, family and friends at this difficult time. A further statement will be released in due course.”
Cat Glover was born on July 23, 1964 in Chicago. During her career, among other things, in the late 1980s Glover collaborated with the musician of “Purple Rain” on multiple projects. As a choreographer and dancer she took part in a number of music videos for Prince, including “U Got the Look” showing her signature move “Cat Scat”, and in the 1987 concert film “Sign o’ the times”. She also participated as a backing vocalist on the tours of the Minneapolis artist, in the “Sign o’ the Times Tour” and the “Lovesexy Tour”, as well as collaborating on the songs “Cindy C.”, from Prince’s studio album commonly known as “The Black Album”, and “Alphabet St.” from the album “Love Sexy”.
Following her collaboration with Prince, Cat Glover released the EP “Catwoman” in 1989 and subsequently worked between London and Los Angeles, recording her own material and pursuing her career as a choreographer and dancer.
