Eurovision 2024, Dutch Joost Klein disqualified
The Netherlands are out of the gameEurovision Song Contest 2024, the final evening of which is scheduled for this evening (here is the guide) at the Malmö Arena in Sweden. The Dutch competitor Joost Klein he was in fact disqualified from the competition after coming under police investigation for intimidating a female member of the show's production team.
The decision to oust the artist from Eurovision was confirmed by the EBU through an official note which reads:
“Dutch artist Joost Klein will not participate in the final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Swedish police have investigated a complaint lodged by a member of the production crew after an incident following his performance in Thursday night's semi-final While the legal proceedings take their course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the race.
We would like to clarify that, contrary to some media reports and speculation on social media, this incident did not involve any other artist or member of the delegation.
We maintain a zero tolerance policy towards inappropriate behavior at our event and are committed to providing a safe and secure working environment for all Eurovision staff. In light of this, Joost Klein's behavior towards a team member is considered to be against the rules of the competition.
The final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will now proceed with 25 participating songs.”
