After the famous television special of 1968 which marked his return to the scenes, and after the publication of some recordings made to Memphis In 1969 (including his latest number one, “Suspticious Minds”), Elvis Presley began to perform regularly at Las Vegasliving a second wave of popularity until his death in 1977. In March 1972 and in March 1975Elvis spent overall Seven days in the studio to record songs that would then become single or that would have been included in albums such as “Separate Ways “ (1973) and “TODAY “ (1975). Among the songs engraved in those sessions, two classics of its later production include: “Burning Love” And “Always on my mind”both present in “Sunset Boulevard “ Both in the final version and in alternative take. Between the two sessions of Los Angeles, Presley also recorded at the Stax Studios by Memphis.
The box will include a CD with versions remastered and remixed of the 17 songs engraved in the two Losangeline sessions of the 70s, a second CD containing 17 Alternative Takes and discarded versions of the 1972 and 1975 sessions. As happened for the box dedicated to Memphis released last year (containing recordings of 1969), All overdubs have been removed: what remains is only the voice of Elvis and the live recording of the band. The other three CDs are dedicated to live tests carried out by Presley with the band in Los Angeles in preparation for the concerts of the 1970 and 1974. The test of the July 24, 1970which occupies a CD and a half, includes songs from all of Elvis’s career, from “That’s All Right” to “Love me tender”until “Don’t Cry Daddy”.
The box closes with the records of the test of the August 16, 1974with more recent songs from the artist’s repertoire, including “Promised Land”, “If you talk in Your Sleep” and a cover of “Proud Mary” of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
