Bono and the reunion of the Oasis: “Obviously I will go to see them”
For the exit of “Stories of Surrender“(here our interview), Andrew Dominik’s film based on the tour of the theatrical show two years ago, which ended in Naples, Bono has allowed himself to a long Chat with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. During the recent interview, the U2 leader spoke of everything until the express His affection for Oasis and the Gallagher brothers.
To Zane Lowe, the Irish musician explained how much, according to him, both Liam and Noel had an unmistakable impact on the British music scene, especially the indie. “I love them, I really love them“, Bono said:” And what I really love is that all that preciousness that had insinuated in indie music … they swept away. There was only their security, and that sound that made you feel as if you were going out of the ghetto, without glorifying it“.
“They are both fun,” added the frontman of the Dublin band, before letting you know that “Obviously” will go to see the Oasis during the Reunion tourdeparting next July 4th from Cardiff:
“I am still very tied to Noel, and he sent me a message saying that he is rather impressed by how well he is playing the band to the rehearsals. I think we expect a beautiful summer.”
Regarding the impact that the band of “Wonderwall” had on the scene of the 90s, Bono continued: “I remember what they did. Those enormous guitars, that generous sound inspired by Neil Young – was stuff that in the United Kingdom was almost prohibited. But they were like: ‘No, I do what I want’. They had this rhythmic quality, beautiful … and Manchester was strongly influenced by the dance, Anyone else, rough than anyone else “.
In the interview, among other things, Bono also remembered when he and The Edge met Liam and Noel for the first time, at the time of the first Oasis album, “Defiately Maybe” (1994), and how the two brothers welcomed them with a certain carelessness in Noel’s apartment. He then told Lowe that, although the Oasis message “perhaps did not arrive in America” in the 90s, according to him the scheduled dates will give them theopportunity to demonstrate because they have captured a lot of attention even beyond ocean: “It will be like their first successful tour in the United States,” Bono underlined: “People don’t know how big they are”.
