Elton John “I will not let myself be defeated by vision problems”

Elton John He still suffers from vision problems that made him partially blind. However, in a recent interview in which he spoke of his new collaborative album with Brandi CarlileJohn is more than ever determined to overcome the impairment.

In July 2024, John contracted an eye infection while on vacation in France and the problem, certainly not banal, prevented him from seeing for more than mid -year.

Although it is afflicted by this serious problem, the 77 -year -old Baronet continues to work tirelessly even if his live career has ended (without regret). Elton John is currently engaged in writing the original soundtrack for the musical adaptation of the West End of “The Devil wears Prada”, based on the book by Lauren Weisberger.

In a recent interview, John insists on wanting to achieve as much as possible. “If I don’t try, if I don’t go further, what’s the point of continuing? Being ‘Elton John’ for the rest of my life? Which would have filled me with horror”.

John refuses to be pessimistic despite his health he is worsening. “I’m always optimistic,” he says. “At this moment I have a bad view. There have been days when I was sad, but then I thought about how lucky I am. I have a new respect for people with vision problems and for the totally blind ones, with some of whom I am in contact ”

“But” he continued. “I have a fantastic life and I hope that my best view. In my life I have passed many things. This will not defeat me. I defeated the addiction, I defeated health problems and I can get up and dust off”.

His new album, “Who Believes in Angels?” (Read here), will be released on April 4th for Island Emi Records. .
